Indian / Middle East doctors in Switzerland
In the last decade we have organized few advanced courses in Orthopedics for doctors from India at venues in Switzerland and Austria. Many of the doctors who have attended our programs have evinced a keen interest to do a fellowship with Swiss hospitals, under the guidance of Swiss/European doctors.
The Indian doctors will take care of their travel, stay and other incidental expenses; there is no commercial obligation on the part of the Swiss hospitals.
The Swiss hospital will provide a professional working experience to the doctor on fellowship and also give a certificate at the end of the tenure. The tenure in most cases will be from 4 to 8 weeks.
The Indian doctors will make a detailed presentation to the hospital before the end of the fellowship outlining their learning vis-a-vis their experiences in India. Through this the Swiss doctors will also stand to learn about the way medicine is practiced in India. Similarly the Swiss doctors can make a presentation at the end of their fellowships and share their experience on the Indian side.
Swiss doctors in India
When it comes to clinical diagnosis the Indian doctors are more adept simply because they handle a wide variety of cases and in large numbers. Experiences gained by them through their residencies are thus different. The same may not be the case with Swiss or European doctors, where the number of patients is less and the cases may also not be as varied as in India. However, the European doctors work on the latest in technology, they are highly efficient in use of state of the art equipments and have a very systematic approach to medicine.
One of the thoughts that we have been playing with for the quite some time is to enable doctors from Switzerland to have fellowships in Indian hospitals. Our partner in India is one of the most well known medical education company. Through their network and our own wide network with Indian hospitals, we can arrange for Swiss doctors to visit Indian hospitals and gain valuable experience. Depending on the need we can enable them to get involved at various levels.
We will take care of all the travel, stay and logistics for the Swiss doctors and also provide them with a basic understanding of the cultural differences. We will set their expectations to realistic levels and hand hold them through the fellowships in India.
We also had arranged for a German doctor to visit Indian hospitals and have a firsthand experience with Indian patients. From the feedback we understood that this kind of an exchange program has great value.
These two concepts are on the lines of international cooperation between two countries, albeit at a private level. A small start has already been made and the results have exceeded our expectations.
SWIND GmbH will take care of filtering the doctors, arranging their stay and all the logistics involved, for this SWIND will have an arrangement with the doctors. We wish to expand this project and welcome other hospitals / institutes as our partners; together we can define our goals and set a process in place to achieve them.
